Work From Home Tips
49This article is about work from home tips for men and women. Enjoy!
Nowadays, more and more companies are allowing their employees to telecommute and in fact are encouraging them to consider working from home. They believe that some of their employees will work more efficiently from home and thus be more productive. We provide you some tips that will help you stay focused on work even at home and help you achieve your goals.
· Always ensure that there is more than one way in which you can be contacted by your employer, colleagues or the client you are working for. You should have a landline and an email address exclusively for work purposes. You should also consider having a mobile, an instant messaging service and a Skype account. This way people who need to stay in touch with you will know that they can do so through one means of communication or the other.
· You should provide yourself some dedicated office space that will give you adequate privacy. Even if you are not able to spare an entire room for your office, you should certainly set up a workspace for yourself in some area of your home where you can work in an undisturbed manner. Your work area should have easy access to the phone, computer, office supplies and necessary reference material.
· Being organized always helps but especially so when you are working from home. Structure your day just as you would if you were working for a regular job – get up at the same time, get ready and be at your ‘office desk’ at the usual time. Try to maintain regular working hours – this will not only help you stay focused but also help your employer or your client know when you are available.
· You have to find a way of dealing with distractions at home like children, friends or neighbors. Try to educate them on how working from home does not mean you can be disturbed any time – request them to speak to you or drop in when you are free.
· While you may enjoy working in complete solitude, you do need a break from time to time. Just take a quick walk, make yourself a cup of coffee or just move around to keep your mind and ideas fresh.
· Staying cooped up all week in your office with only your family to interact with is not healthy. Catch up with friends or old colleagues by going out for coffee or lunch with them.
